26 Sep 18

The GFSC’s Director of Regulatory Operations, Kathryn Morgan, has recently become a member of the International Association of Insurance Supervisors’ (IAIS) Implementation and Assessment Committee (IAC).

The IAIS is the international standard-setting body responsible for developing and assisting in the implementation of principles, standards and other supporting material for the supervision of the insurance sector. The IAC reports directly to the IAIS’ Executive Committee and is responsible for the pursuit of the IAIS’ high-level goal to support Members’ efforts to implement the IAIS supervisory material through assessment of observance of IAIS standards, guidance on supervisory practices, promotion of information exchange and supervisory cooperation, and supervisory capacity building, amongst other oversight, support and enhancement activities.

The GFSC is committed to working together with other jurisdictions and contributing to international standard setting initiatives and developments in the insurance sector led by the IAIS.

Kathryn Morgan joined the GFSC in 2014 as Director of Regulatory Operations, setting up and leading the Regulatory Operations Directorate of the Commission with a focus on protecting consumers, protecting the reputation of the jurisdiction and preventing financial crime.

Ahead of the next IAC meeting in November, Kathryn stated: “I am delighted to have the opportunity to join the IAC, and I am very much looking forward to contributing to the important work that the committee and the IAIS carries out in standard setting for the supervision of the world-wide insurance sector.”
